Sun Kissed Skin
As the sun sets on these last few days of summer, I look back on the great memories I have been fortunate enough to create with my family. The summers’ end is always bitter sweet. This is especially true for me this year as my parents make their move to Kauai to retire. Looking back on our fun in the sun and looking forward to making new memories on the islands, I am reminded that skin care is more important than ever.
It is important to take the time to reflect on the impact the suns’ rays have had on our skin over this last season. The sunny days and sun kissed tans have left lingering damage, whether we’re ready to face it or not.
Luckily, here at our office, we have many ways to address these skin changes.
First and foremost, if you have any lesions that are new, changing or suspicious, come in to have them checked and be sure to see your dermatologist annually. We have a systematic way of looking at different spots and lesions to help us determine if they need further evaluation or treatment.
For benign dark spots caused by the sun aka sun lentigines, we have a few options, which include the IPL, best done as a series of 3 to knock down excess pigment, chemical peels ranging from mid depth to deep and also laser resurfacing. Your best option however, is to schedule a consultation with myself or Dr Bunkis, to create an individualized treatment plan for you.
Another great option at the end of summer is dermaplaning. Dermaplaning not only rids your face of the little peach fuzz, but also removes the dry, dead skin cells, leaving your skin brighter and more radiant. Dermaplaning is a great precursor to any of the aforementioned treatments as well!
Additional treatments to prevent wrinkles and to help rejuvenate the face and hands, include injectables! Injectable neurotoxins help prevent and minimize the appearance and formation of new wrinkles, while fillers can add volume and hydration to both the face and hands, creating a more youthful appearance.
I hope you all have enjoyed your summer and after reading this blog are getting ready to call our office to come in to reverse signs of aging with lasers, peels, botox and fillers or even indulge in some surgical procedures including that tummy tuck, breast augmentation or facelift that you’ve been dreaming of!
See you soon.
