Newport Beach Post Weight Loss Surgery by Dr. Juris Bunkis*

Procedure Details

This still overweight female in her late thirties presented to Dr. Juris Bunkis of Orange County Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, California following a more than 170 pound weight loss following a gastric bypass bariatric procedure. Her weight had now stabilized and she wished to have some excess abdominal wall skin removed and her massive breasts reduced. She had a large scar in the right upper quadrant of the abdominal wall from a prior gall bladder operation, which compromised circulation to the flap Dr. Bunkis had to raise while removing her excess abdominal wall skin. Her breasts were DDD in size. In addition to the breast reduction, a body lift and a vertical abdominal wall skin excision (to remove the horizontal skin excess) were recommended but the patient chose not to have the body lift nor the vertical abdominal wall skin excised (fleur de lis incision) for financial reasons and accepted that her skin would not be as tight with just a vertical skin excision that occurs with a tummy tuck. Dr. Bunkis performed an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), removing in excess of 25 pounds of tissue! In addition, he did a horizontal pattern (i.e. no vertical scar, short scar) breast reduction procedure and brought her from a DDD to a D cups size, more appropriate for her frame. She was very satisfied with the degree of improvement she got to her breasts and abdomen - her Newport Beach Mommy Makeover!
