Complex Breast Reconstruction by Dr. Juris Bunkis of OC Plastic Surgery, Newport*

Procedure Details

This now healthy female in her early twenties was born premature and had many procedures as a premature baby. A tube had been inserted into her lateral chest on the right and left her with a scar. As her breasts began developing years later, the scar on her right lateral breast caused the areolus to be pulled laterally, leading to significant distortion of the breast. In addition to the distortion, the left breast was larger and droopier than the right, leading to significant asymmetry and the patient was very self conscious of her chest. She saw a couple of Orange County Plastic Surgeons, who did not have a good solution for her right breast. She then met with Dr. Juris Bunkis of Orange County Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, California, who proposed a solution that was not described in medical literature and she decided to go with Dr. Bunkis. She underwent a standard, vertical (lollipop incision) left breast reduction and an innovative, and a lateral (lateral lollipop incision) "lift" of the right breast (actually leaving the areolus at the same level but moving it back to the center of the breast, leaving her with a horizontal scar lateral to the areolus). Naturally, she was very pleased with the results, has referred her friends to the practice, and has come back to Dr. Bunkis for subsequent procedures.
