What a nice memory of a Cinco de Mayo many years ago, in Rosarito, when social
distancing was not an issue! Happy Cinco de Mayo to all of you, enjoy your
burritos with your families today at home, be safe!
The spread of COVID-19 has been minimized in Orange County and the curves haves flattened. California as a State has seen a drop in its weekly Coronavirus deaths, a turning point. With many precautions in place, local plastic surgery offices and surgery centers have resumed business – not as usual, but resumed business with precautions in place. Our office is now officially open and we welcome your calls and look forward to seeing you, either by a teleconsultation or in person. All patients coming to the office (and staff) will wear masks for the foreseeable future. Unless required because of a physical disability or a language barrier, please do not bring family members or friends to a consultation or other office visit. We do ask all of our patients if they have had any travel history, possibility of recent exposure, any respiratory symptoms of fever, space patients on the schedule to allow social distancing, wipe down all contact surfaces between visits, and encourage frequent hand washing. All patients wishing to have a surgical procedure are also requested to have a COVID-19 swab test 48 hours prior to surgery. These tests can be performed at the Newport Urgent Care Center on Bristol close to our office – the cash price for the test is $165 but it is a coverable expense if you have regular health insurance. Or you can get the test done at a lab closer to your home if that is more convenient, as long as we get the results the day prior to the surgical procedure.
I am so glad to be back at it – seeing patients and doing plastic surgery must be in my blood. But there will be some changes in the office. Our PA, Crystal Osborn, went to Florida to be closer to her family when this pandemic started, beaches there are open and great, and she has chosen to remain there. Crystal, we miss you immensely! Our other employees are in the middle of other commitments and will be returning part time as their schedules allow - working from home for the next week or two. My daughter, Jessica, pictured on the far right in orange in above photo, almost 20 years ago, will be helping with some of the slack. So don’t be surprised if I answer the phone when you call the office – you did not get the wrong number, all office calls are shuffled to my cell when Stevie, Jo or Tina cannot be here.
Please call 949-888-9700 if you have any questions or visit our website at:
Even with our office reopened, we will continue offering teleconsultation options to our patients for both initial consultations and for follow up visits. Please feel free to use our complimentary telemedicine consultation service online through https://doxy.me/drbunkis - just please call us in advance to set up a time when we can chat. (Just click on this link to use doxy.me after you call to alert me, and your name will pop up on my screen that you are waiting to talk to me). Save this link in your favorites or contacts. This service can be used for follow-up patients as well as new consultations.
The government is fairly confident that a vaccine will be available by the end of this year. I am sure there will be a few glitches and a shortage of the vaccine to start with. But somehow we will all get through this and hopefully be able to enjoy Cinco de Mayo with all of our friends, without masks, next year!
Hope to see many of you soon!
