Breast Lift In Newport Beach, Orange County, CA

Has your profile lost its “wow” factor after pregnancy or as a result of aging? A positive body image is powerful element to your health and well-being. At Orange County Plastic Surgery center, Dr. Bunkis offers a cosmetic breast lift for Newport Beach women.

What Is Mastopexy?

Mastopexy, by definition, is the clinical word for a breast lift. It means to fix or correct the breasts. Unlike breast augmentation, a breast lift removes excess skin that allows your breasts to sag. Laxity in the skin also means that your nipples point downward. The procedure is not as involved as breast augmentation, yet it still gives you a younger, more attractive profile.

A breast lift without implants is a surgery that lifts the breasts by removing excess skin that is stretched and lax. This not only positions your breasts to a more appropriate position on your chest, but it also reorients your nipple so it doesn’t point downward. Your breast volume remains the same, but your breasts may look fuller because the tissue is in a smaller skin pouch. The traditional technique is a breast lift without implants, but Dr. Bunkis can combine a breast lift with augmentation.

There is no best age to get a breast lift, so you should be mindful of when your breast sagging affects how you feel about your appearance.

Can You Have A Breast Lift After Breast Reconstruction?

Breast reconstruction often involves removing breast tissue and excess skin, and this may limit the options for breast reshaping. If you have had breast reconstruction, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with the surgeon. He will recommend options that will achieve the best possible results.

As an experienced double board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Bunkis remains focused on providing his patients with exceptional results. He uses both traditional and new techniques, including those that reposition the nipple and reduce the size of the areola. By considering the area around the areola and the nipple in his surgical plan, as well as the breast tissue, he achieves incredibly natural-looking results.

Breast Lift Techniques

Dr. Bunkis uses several types of breast lift surgeries, and he specializes in mastopexy techniques for small breasts.

  • Anchor Lift – Dr. Bunkis uses the anchor lift technique when he needs to access most of the breast tissue, such as in cases of severe sagging. The anchor lift involves two incisions. The first is made along a straight line from the bottom side of the areola to the breast crease. A second anchor incision is made along the breast fold.
  • Lollipop Lift – A lollipop lift is performed in cases of moderate to severe sagging when the procedure is not combined with breast augmentation. Dr. Bunkis makes a lollipop incision around the areola. A second vertical incision is made from the bottom edge of the areola to the breast fold.
  • Crescent Lift – If you have mild breast sagging, Dr. Bunkis may use the crescent lift technique. An incision is made along the top half of the areola. This technique is not as common, and it is most often used for women who want a breast lift with implants.
  • Donut Lift – The donut mastopexy involves an incision around the entire areola. Not only is this technique good for sagging, but Dr. Bunkis also uses it to reduce the size of the areola. The donut lift technique is also good for women who want a breast lift with implants.

The technique that Dr. Bunkis uses for a specific surgical plan is based upon the natural breast contours, size and position of areolas, and underlying breast tissue.

Breast Liftt FAQ

What Happens During A Breast Lift?

Breast lift procedure steps are performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. There are many factors to discuss prior to the surgery, including the steps of a breast lift and position of the incisions. The breast lift steps may also include nipple and areola reduction, nipple correction, and nipple repair.

The incision is usually chosen based on how invasive the lift needs to be. This procedure will produce scars; however, Dr. Bunkis does everything possible to make the scars less visible or easily concealed. We will also provide information on how to best care for your surgical wounds for more attractive results.

What Are The Risks Of A Breast Lift?

As with any surgery, there are some breast lift surgery risks. Working with Dr. Bunkis for your cosmetic procedure ensures that the risks are reduced. Infection is the primary concern when it comes to breast lift risks, so it is imperative that you follow all aftercare instructions.

Can A Breast Lift Be Combined With Other Operations?

A breast lift can be combined with other cosmetic procedures. The most common is a breast lift with implants. You can lift your breasts and add volume and shape when you opt for a breast enhancement and lift. You may also want to consider mommy makeoverfat grafting and a breast lift combined into one surgical appointment. Having a tummy tuck and breast lift combined gives your upper body a toned and youthful appearance. This is an excellent option to help with the effects of pregnancy and aging.

What Can I Expect From Recovery After Breast Lift Surgery?

Knowing what to expect during recovery from breast lift surgery helps you prepare. You will see some immediate breast lift surgery results, but keep in mind that your breasts will be swollen after the procedure. You may also feel that you have significantly firmer breasts, but this, too, may be due to the swelling. The final breast lift results will be apparent once the swelling has subsided. Breast lift with no implant results tend to happen in less time than if you have implants during the same procedure.

Breast life recovery is a week-by-week process, and recovery time for breast lift surgery varies. Recovering from a breast lift procedure may be longer if you combine it with another surgery.

Breast lift patients will wear a compression or surgical bra for the first part of the recovery. The supportive bra holds the tissues in place and minimizes swelling. Avoid putting pressure on healing breasts, and we recommend using a pillow with cut outs for your breasts.

During the first 48 hours of your breast lift recovery period, you will be encouraged to do light activities, such as slowly moving around the room or spending a few minutes standing. These activities help stimulate blood circulation and promote healing. The surgeon can also prescribe pain medication to relieve any discomfort. There should be no heavy lifting or strenuous activity involving the chest whatsoever. You can resume your normal activities within two to three weeks, but exercise should be avoided for six to eight weeks.

You will notice the breast lift incisions healing in stages. It will first heal with a slightly pink color. Over the 12 months after your surgery, breast lift scars will change color to be slightly darker than your natural skin tone.

Post Operational Instructions

It is important to keep the surgical area clean, take prescribed medications as directed, rest and avoid strenuous activities, and adhere to a balanced diet while staying hydrated.

Attending follow-up appointments will allow your surgeon to monitor your progress and provide further guidance, ensuring a successful outcome from your plastic surgery procedure.
