Meet Our Staff
Deborah Kay Ekstrom, MD
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Deborah K. Ekstrom, is a native of the Midwestern US and spent 30 years in New England before joining Orange County Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Ekstrom is an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon. Her special interests include breast surgery, facial rejuvenation using liposuction, dermal fillers and Beauty injections®, and body contouring using a variety of state-of-the art techniques. Dr. Ekstrom works with both Mentor Corporation and McGhan (Allergan) implant companies as an investigator using silicone implants in reconstruction and breast lift patients. She offers “quick recovery” breast augmentation and in-office small volume liposuction in which you save money by paying no hospital fees and no general anesthesia. Customized tummy tuck procedures are also one of her interests.
Watercolor painting, glass flame work, and photography are included in Dr. Ekstrom’s artistic interests, and she enjoys traveling, gardening and teaching financial and investment skills to women – moneyloveswomen.com

Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Juris Bunkis, is the Medical Director and Owner of Orange County Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, CA.
Dr. Juris Bunkis is an internationally known plastic surgeon, diplomat of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He specializes in both surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures. Such procedures include his Natural A to V Facelifts, brow lifts, eyelid surgery, nasal surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, tummy tucks, liposuction and body contouring, laser skin resurfacing, and various noninvasive office procedures.
Dr. Bunkis is one of the handful of plastic surgeons in the Newport Beach area who performs buttocks, pectoral, and calf implant surgery. In 2010, Dr. Bunkis assisted with the launching of the MD Performance professional skin care line of products.
He is an innovative plastic surgeon and teacher, whose skills and artistry are sought from patients around the greater Los Angeles/Orange County/San Diego areas and rest of the United States.

Education & Training
Upon graduating from the University of Toronto Medical School, Dr. Bunkis completed a general surgery residency at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Columbia University in New York and the Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard University in Boston. This was followed by board certification in general surgery. He subsequently returned to Harvard University to complete a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
In 1981, he became board certified in plastic surgery and joined the plastic surgery faculty at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine as assistant professor of surgery for the division of plastic surgery. During this time, Dr. Bunkis served as chief of plastic surgery at the San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Bunkis has been in private practice, specializing in aesthetic surgery since 1984.

Jo fills the role of Office Manager at Orange County Plastic Surgery, working directly with Dr. Bunkis and his team since 2016. She has almost 40 years of experience in the medical field and has a passion for plastic surgery. Born and raised in California, she enjoys time with her husband, children, grandchildren and two chocolate labs.
She is compassionate, caring and helps provide a pleasant visit for all of our patients. She coordinates surgeries and will walk you through the whole process from beginning to end.

Kaitlyn serves as our dedicated medical assistant, bringing enthusiasm and compassion to every patient interaction. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is currently on her path toward a career in medicine, with a strong passion for plastic surgery and dermatology.
She is a recent University of California, Irvine graduate with a degree in Biological Sciences. Outside of the clinic, Kaitlyn enjoys traveling with her family, playing soccer and pickleball, and capturing moments through her love of photography.

I was born and raised in Fullerton, California, and recently completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology. Currently, pursuing my goal of becoming a physician’s assistant, hoping to specialize in cosmetics and surgery. Working in plastic surgery will give me the opportunity to learn how to support patients through the emotional and physical aspects of their care, and to observe firsthand the importance of trust in surgical settings.
